Killing Joke - The Wiltern, Los Angeles - 18.12.2010 (Flac)

Very Good sound

Original Info file:

A bit of sacrifice on best sound positioning by being front and center but I had to witness Jaz's intense facial expressions. I eq'd recording to bring up guitar and vocals that sound clearer than I remember live.
A friend further back said sound was better mixed with more guitar but I think
finished recording still conveys plenty of power. This was last date of North American tour. Youth had to leave tour for last three west coast dates
due to family matters but will return for London show. Band's guitar tech, Al Function, did a fine job filling in and his backing vocals were strong. After Happy Birthday was sung to Geordie, his cake was handed to audience who quickly
mauled it. Great performance by band but atmosphere lacking due to uncharacteristically tame gathering.
I was expecting to be smashed against stage and have a few bruises but perhaps the rain dampened enthusiasm for the many that were forced to stand outside and get soaked before being allowed to enter. The new songs are fantastically sublime, especially Ghosts of Ladbroke Grove, so be sure to buy the new album Absolute Dissent.Enjoy!

Jaz Coleman - vocals
Geordie Walker - guitar
Paul Ferguson - drums
Al Function - bass

Echo & The Bunnymen - O2 Academy, Oxford - 06.12.2010 (Flac)

Excellent sound for this concert from this month. The Bunnymen play their two first albuns completely and in the disks order wich is excellent. Thanks to the taper for sharing his wonderful recording!

Original info file:

Recorded and mastered by Pike1957:
Slightly left of centre (in front of Will), one row back from barrier
Church AUdio CA-11C Cardioids ->
Church Audio ST-9000 Preamp ->
Sony PCM-M10 (48khz, 24 bit) ->
Adobe Audion 3.0 (VOlume adjustments) ->
Audacity (track splits, resampling) ->
FLAC (level 8, 44.1khz, 16bit)

The sound at this gig was probably the best I've heard anywhere, and
I think that is pretty much captured in this recording. The band were
on fine form and played their first two albums in their entirety, plus
a few favourites for the encore. I cut out seven minutes of applause
when the band was offstage before the encore, a) because that's too long
to sit through, and b) there was recorded music played throughout.

Liverpool 3, Aston Villa 0 (N'Gog 13, Babel 16, Maxi Rodriguez 55)
You'll understand when you listen to the recording!

The Virgin Prunes - Dave Fanning Session - 1981 (Flac)

Very interesting session with early versions of songs that would later become live staples. Very good sound. Thanks to the original uploader.

Original info file:

Noahwall had a Virgin Prunes upload (Torrent #322147 Virgin Prunes - Dave Fanning Irish RTE Radio Sessions 1981-1982 [Reseed]) and as my source is a chrome tape copy of a chrome tape master, he suggested I post it, as he reckoned it's an upgrade to what he has.

I used to tape Dave Fannings Rock show on RTE radio, especially at the end of year when he used to repeat sessions from that year (a highlights show, as it were).
I would have recorded the show on a BASF Chrome 120 and then dubbed the bits I wanted to another tape, in this case, a BASF Chrome 90.

1. Bau-Dachong
2. DJ chat
3. How's about apologia?
4. DJ chat
5. The Walls of Jericho
6. DJ chat
7. We Sing a Song
8. DJ chat

I got the spelling for Bau-Dachöng from http://www.irishrock.org/irodb/bands/virginprunes.html

The tracks 'The Walls of Jericho', 'Bau-Dachong' and 'We sing a Song' are listed on a bootleg: "TV & Radio Sessions 79-83" (as listed at http://www.irishrock.org/irodb/bands/virginprunesbootsk7.html). No mention of the 4th track I have here: "Hows about Apologia?". I'm saying this is from 1981 but don't know. However, it's listed as from 1981 on above weblink.

9. DJ chat
10. Gavin Friday recites "The Beautiful People"
11. DJ chat
12. Prunes discuss "War" (track on 2nd release)
13. DJ thanks Dave ID

This section is from the other side of the BASF Chrome 90 tape. I'm not sure if he did it every year, but Dave Fanning did an end-of-year "best-of" of interview clips that he'd done during the year and that's where this came from.I take it to be from 1981, 'cos Track 12 is discussing a track on 1981s 'Moments and Mine' EP..

Nitzer Ebb - The Echoplex, Los Angeles - 09.11.2010 (Flac)

Excellent recording proving that Nitzer Ebb are in top form! thanks to mixter_ for sharing his recording. I couldn´t find an image of the concert poster so I used the poster from the next concert on the american tour, wich was really cool.

Original info file:

after seeing three recoil show over the previous 2 weeks, i couldn't help but wonder how they might have benefited from douglas' appearance. sadly, he was unable to make any of the u.s. shows to perform "stalker" and "faith healer". still i needed my n.e.p. fix and they did not disappoint.
a very taught set from the boys this time around. the audience seemed unusually sedate. true to form, the band was very animated. douglas continues to prowl the stage like a caged panther barking orders in time like a drill sergeant. vocals are very clear and prominent in the mix as they are for most n.e.p. shows.
still the unexpected indifference of the weeknight audience in attendance did bring the band's
energy level down a notch until the end of set "murderous". apparently the residents of silverlake can't dance.
"once you say" is now performed in a lower key perhaps because after a solid year of touring the world, he needs to preserve his voice. the lack of audience "participation" created a near perfect storm for taping. no chat, just polite applause and a murmur between songs. unfortunately, the show opener "promises" and the classic "ascend" have been nixed from the set and replaced by the new song, "on the road". douglas and bon stayed and met fans after the show at the venue entrance. a class act. see you the next time around.

gratuitous propaganda:
a must for fans of: nine inch nails, depeche mode, kmfdm, ministry, revco, daf, skinny puppy, recoil, bauhaus, numan, the sisters of mercy, etc...

please buy their phenomenal new album "industrial complex" or get to one of their shows.

Mach FoX - The Sky Is Falling - Info

PRESS RELEASE:
Mach FoX
The Sky Is Falling
released 12/07/2010 by afmusic
under Creative Commons License- Attribution-NonCommercial-No Derivative

Like a DeLorean time machine, Mach FoX's sleek, sci-fi, horror, doom-pop exists simultaneously in the electropunk future and the retro-gothrock past. Twitchy computer beats, jittery synthesizers, and etheral, Cure-inspired guitars interweave in Mach FoX's hall of mirrors, with Mach's soaring, mournful vocals serving as a guide through the labyrinth. While plenty of current bands cop the flash and glitter of 80's electronic tinged gothrock, Mach FoX is one of the few to capture a bit of its soul.

Past attentive reviewers have compared Mach FoX to The Chameleons, The Cure, David Bowie, Gary Numan, Killing Joke, The Cruxshadows, Bauhaus, Alien Sex Fiend, The Cult, Depeche Mode, Sisters of Mercy, New Order, Interpol, Wall of Voodoo, Blondie, Yaz, DAF and even Prince, and while many of these bands are referenced and glimpses of them can be felt and heard, he has always tried to stay individual and original by mixing electronics with raw guitars and producing his music with a do-it-yourself approach and fierce electropunk attitude.

The Sky Is Falling EP combines recent tracks previously released as digital singles and special versions with 2 unreleased tracks...Full details in Release Notes.
The artwork and EP title were provided by Santa Monica CA. multi media artist Chris Haugen whose work "encompasses the Human Vessel and Society, Inner Struggles and the Apocalypse". Mach FoX could not have found a better match for his songs of betrayal and deception, evil doctors, dragons and grim reapers, future empires, serial killers, and tongues.

Mach FoX - The Sky Is Falling

A short but excellent DVD from Lush. This should make a lot of you happy given the popularity of the last post I did from them. Thanks to the original uploader.

Original info file:

The quality is excellent for analog TV/VHS.
Some really nice camerawork but the editing is sort of obtrusive.
You know they shot the entire performance but unfortunately this is all that was chosen for broadcast.
But I guess we should be happy for this much because it seemed like PBS didn't have very good taste. I mean, their idea of a great artist is...John Tesh.

Goldfrapp - Coliseu, Lisboa, Portugal - 22.09.2010 (Flac)

Goldfrapp's second concert in Portugal this year, after playing in the Marés Vivas Festival in July. The venue as 2/3 full, wich was nice since you had some space. The sound was excellent even if a little too loud sometimes, The band was dressed in glitter and Allison had some fans that made her air float all the time she was on the front, a really nice effect also on her wardrobe. The setlist was mainly based on the new album with some space for the older hits.

I got to admit that my favourite albun from them is still "Felt Mountain" (ten years old already...)so I was really pleasently surprised for the inclusion of "Lovely head" on the first encore, and judging by the audience response to the first notes of the song, I was not the only one.

The recording is exactly has it comes out of the MD,it sounds quite good, in my opinion, even if the MD compression kicks in sometimes. Some clapping and crowd chatting, but not much.

Recorded by circle.

Now here's something really special and a real honor, an excellent recording of DM's Tour of the Universe, that lasyboy AKA Pascal chose to share here in the room. As usual with his recordings the sound is so good that you wonder sometimes if it's not a soundboard :-) The setlist is slightly different from the concert in Barcelona, just two days before, that is already posted on the blog, wich makes it even more interesting. The photos are from Ultimate Psycho who did a hell of a job! Also, here's the link of the youtube page of lasyboylive, where you can find some clips of the concert (and some from TSOM also, wich are unmissable).

Thanks to xavierx, crowbiwan, karelgott and superblast! for the source material. Thanks to ende for the inspiration to tackle this one.

I combined both Source 1 and 2 into separate single tracks, then used crossfades to patch the other sources as needed into the Source 1 show. No EQ or hiss reduction used. CDWav used to cut tracks. End is edited in preFM/FM form because Robert's mic apparently drops from it's stand during this song. Also, some of Porl's guitar parts are edited out. As far as i know, there's no full length SBD/FM source in circulation. For that reason, the YP AUD source has been added to this seed. Tracking between Disintegration and End has been done to allow you to use either verion of End and have them work seamlessly. To do this, the track split there is a bit early, but normally the listener won't notice that because the transitions will be smooth either way. All processing by terrapinstation 2006-10-30. Another Porky Prime Cut from Terrapin Station!!

Artery - Band on the Wall, Manchester - 11.10.2010 (Flac)

Excellent sound. Thanks to happytrader for sharing this one.

Original info Text:

Artery, for those of you unfamiliar with them, have been labelled Sheffield's equivalent of Joy Division. They began in 1979 but split up in 1985 after two albums and numerous singles. They are an experimental and critically acclaimed band who influenced an entire generation of Sheffield/British musicians including the young Jarvis Cocker of Pulp fame. It was Cocker who asked them to play at the Meltdown Festival in 2007, so they reformed to much delight in the European music scene. The late John Peel once described them as his favourite band so indeed high praise! This concert is one of the handful of concerts they have played this year. It came as one long FLAC file so the tunes were separated, FLAC'ed to individual tracks and given appropriate FLAC tags. Many thanks to the recordist in Manchester for archiving this show. It is truly great to see Artery in the fray again and with some quite wonderful new tunes. Enjoy!

Marilyn Manson - Antichrist on TV 1996 / 1997 (DVD)

I shared this one a while back on DIME and a lot of people downloaded, so here it is, for the ones that aren't Dimers.

I started transfering my VHS tapes to DVD in 2005 using a DVD recorder, I spent most of the 90's recording stuff from the
various avaiable music channels, so this DVD is made enterely of 1st generation tapes.

This is a very nice insight into the Antichrist Superstar era of Marilyn Manson, with various interviews that complement
the performances. In the program that had official promo clips, those were removed, according to DIME rules.

Hope you enjoy it.

Tool - Estádio do Restelo, Lisboa, Portugal - 06.04.2002

Excellent sound. I was on this one, my only Tool concert so far. I bought a ticket to OzzFest just to see them (and Slayer, I have to admit), so it was a pleasant bonus (even if unfortunate) when Ozzy couldn't perform due to personal problems and Tool got the headliner slot, doing a two hours set with all the video gear. It rained all the time, but the audience didn't seem to mind, that's how good the concert was, everybody completely mesmerized by the music and visuals.

The concerts from last week, Ultra THANK YOU to Druide for letting me post his recordings. And yours too I suppose. Lots of songs from the "Nephilim" album and a powerful ending with "Last Exit for the Lost". ANBB (Alva Noto & Blixa Bargeld) - Teatro Maria Matos, Lisboa, Portugal - 21.09.2010 (Flac)

First concert from this band in Portugal to a seated full house, the audience seemed to not really know much about the project, being attracted by the names of the individual members. Blixa was in a good mood, chatting with the audience inbetween
some songs. The sound was very loud, being painful on the first encore... The band played two covers (One and I Wish I Was A Mole) and showcased their upcoming CD entirely, judging by the numbers of tracks.

Unfortunately the concert was longer than what I expected so the first encore is cut in the middle and the second encore was not recorded because I only took one 80m Disc with me, so this recording misses one an an half songs. Sorry...

It turned out quite good, in my opinion, and it's a must if you're a fan of Einsturzende Neubauten, How to destroy Angels or NIN's Ghosts. The band is about to release their first full CD, so support them by buying it.

The setlist is incomplete since I only know the first EP from them and a couple of songs of the new CD that are avaiable for preview on the net.Maybe someone can help?

Recorded with Zoom H2 (Internal Mics) Second row centre stage, next to a bunch

Lycia - The Ghost of Lycia (Early Demos)

These are some demos that Lycia made avaiable through their website a decade ago, I was trying to find them for ages in my hard drives, but couldn't... Yesterday in FaceBook Mike VanPortfleet published a link to another blog where these were, so I decided to make a mirror and publish them here also.

The original blog was "For the Greater Good", it's a nice one, you should check it out. Thanks to Sights for showing me this.

By the way, Lycia just released via internet a new EP "Fifth Sun" that I strongly advise all of you to buy, you can download some tracks for free in the band's Reverbnation web page. Also, here's the link for a recent interview with Tara Vanflower

The Sisters of Mercy - Maxim Gorki, Stuttgart - 12.11.1984 (FLAC)

AKA Knocking On Heavens Door

Thanks to sisteruli for the links.

From Original TXT file:

"This is my all-time favourite Sisters bootleg, a cracking recording of a show where Eldritch seems to be pissed off right from the first song, and continues in that vein until the very end. Listen to the between-song tirades as he berates the lively German audience and insults Wayne's sexuality. I would imagine most Sisters fans will have this one, as it has been fairly widely bootlegged, butvif you don't have it grab this one immediately.

I did a cassette transfer of my original vinyl of this shortly after I bought it, and it still sounds good to me even after 20+ years. I believe the speed is correct, as I've played guitar along to it and it matches the key pretty well.

Muse - Rock in Rio, Lisboa - 29.05.2010

I got to admit that Muse's last album it's definitively not my cup of tea, it sounds too much like Queen... But I do like some of their inicial albuns and Mrs Circle is a fan, so this is for her.

Excellent sound taken from the TV broadcast. The band only autorized 6 songs to be transmitted, but the versions of Supermassive Black Hole and Knights of Cidonia are a blast and the audience is flaming hot, proving why portuguese festival audiences are considered the top, but that is best seen in the video.

Alien Sex Fiend - Sala Heineken, Madrid - 09.05.2008 (Video)

I already posted a audio version of this concerts, here's the video in MP4 format. Quite good, the entire concert filmed from the front left side in a stable position, very diferent from the other ASF concerts I already posted. Nik fiend is his usual self, providing the concert with a lot of weirdness, giant banana and inflatable dolls included.

A special THANK YOU to dtsom for letting me post his recording and video.

The Sisters of Mercy - M'era Luna Festival, Hildesheim - 07.08.2010 (Remastered Version - Flac)

Thanks to DocSommer for sharing his master and Richter, Lachert, 17.auflage and wrecker for the photos.

Taper: jan Sommer (docsommer2000@yahoo.de - http://www.jansommer.net/ - http://www.poison-door.net/)

Lineage RAW Version: SP-CMC-8 Cardoids >> SP-Mini-BBox(9V) >> Edirol R09HR (24Bit/96Khz) >> Merging the Files in Audition andcutting a proper fade in/fade out, swapping channels correctly

Lineage Remastered Version: same as RAW Version + supressing limiter side-effects with Adobe Audition (using "Multiband Compressor" PlugIn)

I've splitted the tracks and converted them to FLAC Level 3 (circle)

Note:
The sound of this stunning performance was way more louder compared to the other Sisters gigs I've seen before.Unfortunately i've set up the rec level too high, that's why you can hear the limiter messing around withthe levels and suppressing the dynamics - the recording is still slightly distorted (very noticeable via headphone).
The remastered version of this recording has been treated with a multiband compressor to supress the limiter-effects a bit. I'm sorry for that and keep myself asking why I didn't check the levels after realizing that the show is gonna be much louder than expected. I was also trying to film some bits so mabe I was distracted with the other "tasks".

Since I didn't really like this recording I don't mind if you share it elsewhere, convert it into lossy formats etc. Feel free to do what ever you like as long as youkeep it for yourself or spread the stuff for free.

01. Intro (Afterhours)
