Swans - Seering The Tube (DVD)

And the DCR team pays homage to the Swans. 120 minutes long.

As with the DCD DVDs this is made from 1080p HD videos (and one 720p, but you'll probably won't even notice wich one) taken from YouTube. It took me a lot of time browsing and downloading videos, but I think that in the end, this collection not only looks very good but  ilustrates quite well what the Swans are live in 2011/2012, so it's a must have if you like the band. I by any chance you're not familiar with the band, then you have to definitively see this! Check the thumbs if you're in doubt about quality of image.

Again, my personal thanks to Š†©kmªÑ for agreeing to author another DVD and making my concept a reality.

And most of all to the filmers/YouTube users that  made all the really hard work filming and sharing the videos. To them, our respectful THANK YOU.

Swans are on tour right now, so don't miss them when they play near you. (they are playing in Portugal tomorrow and to my deepest regret, I can't go see them because of work schedule...) ansd buy their new record The Seer, wich is nothing short of fabulous.

The Cure - SO36, Berlin, Germany - 28.05.1980 (Flac)

Early concert from The Cure, sound is not excellent, but even so it's a very nice listen. It seems that this concert is not very circulated, at least the page for it on cureconcerts.de doesn't have much info on this recording. The version of Killing an Arab has the lyrics change to Killing Kevin Keegan, the football player...

Notes from http://www.cure-concerts.de

Line-Up:
Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Laurence Tolhurst, Matthieu Hartley

This concert is known as "28.05.1980 Berlin - Kant Kino" and "28.05.1980 Berlin - SO36".
According to the Kant Kino employee Beate it was not played at the Kant Kino.

The modification of 'killing an arab' to 'killing kevin keegan' caused most likely from Roberts football adoration. On 28.05.1980 the european football champions final was played in Madrid between the english club Nottingham Forest F.C. and the german club Hamburger SV.  The english player Kevin Keegan played for Hamburger SV these days, something Robert seems not to like ... at least that evening.

The Joy of Disco (Documentary, 2012)

When I asked what bands you wanted to have a dedicated week of postings, somebody said Village People, unfortunately he was the only one, so the People didn't win, but I promised to post something from them, here's a bit of history then ;)

When I was a teen, I hated disco, it was the music your parents listened to, so you runned away from it as if it was the devil. But I do love BBC documentaries, and this one is as excellent as any of the others posted on the blog. It really is not important if you like the music or not, the way this documentary is made, will make join the next time travel to the 70's (and while you're there, try to catch the first Pistols gig before entering the disco).

Thanks to jabulon for sharing this DVD.

The Joy of Disco

Documentary about how a much-derided music actually changed the world. Between 1969 and 1979 disco soundtracked gay liberation, foregrounded female desire in the age of feminism and led to the birth of modern club culture as we know it today, before taking the world by storm. With contributions from Nile Rogers, Robin Gibb, Kathy Sledge, Randy Jones, Giorgio Moroder and Ian Schrager.

Rec. Info:

All thanks to DIMENEW for this really fine recording, done some 26+ years ago. A bit of annoying audience chatter, but the music is well captured!

---
The brainchild of Mr. Rodney Orpheus, the Cassandra Complex were one of the first bands of the gothic electronic underground in the mid to late 80's. Their music was strongly
influenced by german electronica of the 70's, as well as occult lyrical themes. The band is still active today, just have annouced a tour in November 2012, which will lead them
- at least - to Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig and Prague. More dates are likely to be added... I remember I liked their 1988 album, and the song DEFCON1 was a huge success on the
independent dancefloors at that time. Did see them once around that time at Osnabrueck's fomous (old) Hyde Park, but the show was far too loud and the songs were played at almost
twice the speed of the vinyl. I left during the show... Anyway, nothing of that can be heard on this recording (though I guess it was loud!), and I know you will enjoy some early
Cassandra Complex...SB.

Great early intense show featuring a piercing drum machine similar to what Big Black utilized.
I received this tape in the mid '80s listed as 'St. Mary's College, Queens'. I can find no such college so it must be Queen Mary's College, London as they hadn't been to the US until March 1985 to have played in Queens, N.Y. and I don't think they would have played at St. Mary's College, Belfast, Ireland since their website indicates no shows played in Ireland that year. Any clarification would be appreciated.

DEAD CAN DANCE - ANASTASIS TOUR 2012 - NORTH AMERICA (DVD)

So, we move to the other side of the ocean for another DVD of this collection, everytime we think it's the last one, another seems to pop up in front of us, and since all 4 DVDs we made until now are all in the top 10 list of posts, the interest from you seems to continue.

This footage is fgilmed from really close to stage, so it's mostly centered on Brendan and Lisa.

The same  THANK YOU to Š†©kmªÑ for helping me with the authoring of the DVDs.

Of course these DVDs wouldn't exist if not for the filmer, who did all the hard work, filming, editing and then sharing them onYouTube, so all credit should be given to her(him?) with the respectful THANK YOU.

ALL VIDEOS FILMED BY miss housegirl, you can also leave your comments there and/or ask for the original files or arrange a trade.
