In October or November 1978 Budgie joined the group as drummer after Palmolive was unceremoniously thrown out of the group.  During November and December they toured with The Clash on their "Sort It Out" tour which ended with three nights at London's Lyceum, the final date being on 3rd January 1979.  At this point they were still the punk Slits.  Then there was a period of inactivity which was broken in April by an announcement that they'd signed to Island records.  In September 1979 they released a single ("Typical Girls" c/w "I Heard It Through The Grapevine") and an album ("Cut"), featuring Budgie, who had just left to join Siouxsie and the Banshees.  Bruce Smith joined the band on drums, and they did a short UK tour to promote the album.  People going to see them on this tour were to hear a very different Slits, and this is one of those gigs, Glasgow City Hall on 26th September 1979.
